SUMMARY:

The present study aims to discuss and analyze informality through the perceptions and working trajectories of the workers walking in the Recife metro, and with this, to identify the perception of work; the multiple paths of insertion in informality and the struggles and everyday challenges of labor reproduction. In order to the above objectives, the work starts from the theoretical contribution of the sociology of work, resuming discussions such as: the concept of informality; unemployment in a context of precariousness and flexibility of work. As well as, it aims to dimension perception, trajectories and production and competition for space as an important element for the walking category. It adopts as a methodological contribution exploratory research with a qualitative bias, inspired by the analysis of
trajectories, using as data collection technique the bibliographic review, the simple observation, and the semi-structured interview. For data analysis, content analysis is used, pre-defined in three key topics: work perception, trajectory and labor reproduction. From the theoretical debate and empirical research, it was possible to identify that the insertion of informality and the trajectories of the labour market intersect in common points, such as the
profile of social vulnerability, low schooling and poor professional expertise, in addition to the ethnic, age and gender issue. As the labour market makes their relations flexible and precarious, and capitalism promotes new processes of exclusion, individuals begin to seek new alternatives, in informal ways, for their survival.
