SUMMARY:

Population growth combined with excessive production and consumption of commodities, generates waste that becomes increasingly visible and harmful to the environment. Environmental Education (EE) is the main tool for environmental change, considered the basis for the development of a critical opinion that engages citizens in addressing issues related to solid waste, from generation to final disposal. Thus, it is essential that the notion of environmental preservation be worked from an early age, being complemented and improved at school, as it emphasizes its role in relation to the formation of critical and proactive citizens. Thus, the educational game constitutes an important pedagogical resource for the development of these skills. The quantitative research was carried out at the João Paulo I School, located in Jaboatão dos Guararapes-PE and will have as a final product an inclusive pedagogical board game about the environment, selective collection and correct disposal of solid waste (physical toy). The applied methodology consisted, initially, in the application of an interview directed to the employees of the school and, later, with the students and the surrounding community in order to analyze the perception they have about the practice of environmental education. The next step will be to quantitatively survey the solid waste produced by the school community, followed by a debate with students about concepts on this topic. Subsequently, a workshop will be promoted at the school on recycling and reuse of solid waste, where the student will produce a recyclable product and can take it home. Finally, a board game with environmental concepts will be created, in order to didactically verify the students' understanding of this theme.
