SUMMARY:

We understand the importance that the study of atoms, atomic models and related content presents not only for Chemistry, but also for Science. At the same time, we found that the majority of students who reach high school do not have the skills and abilities that, in theory, should have been consolidated in the previous stage of education. At EJA, the reality is no different, if not worse, due to all the implications that involve the majority of students in this type of education, such as social vulnerability, financial and family responsibility, in addition to racial, economic and gender inequality, These factors, when added to the feeling of guilt that many carry for not having completed their studies at the appropriate time, often end up leading to school dropout. With these problems in mind, it is not difficult to see the extreme need for the insertion of different methodologies, which contribute to Science teaching and which involve the student as the protagonist of their own knowledge and an active agent in the process, enabling continuous learning of scientific concepts. from the perspective of critical citizen training. It is in this context of searching for didactic strategies in order to contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning processes in the classroom, that this work developed, analyzed and validated a didactic sequence based on the theory of conceptual profiles, proposed by Mortimer, to work on the concept of atom in Youth and Adult Education students. The proposal for developing the TLS was based on the principles of Zabala  and Méheut , and its structuring drew on the 3 Pedagogical Moments established by Delizoicov and Angotti, Initial Problematization, Organization of Knowledge and Application of Knowledge , respectively, which served as a guide for the logical organization in the development of activities. At SD we prioritize activities with debates, dialogued expository classes, presentation of videos and resolution of problem situations, use of a virtual simulator and dynamics, with the perspective of developing learning through the pedagogical and epistemological dimensions of Méheut's model. The analysis of the activities developed in SD was based on the theoretical references themselves as well as other authors who helped to strengthen the arguments. Validation, a priori, was carried out following the criteria established by Guimarães and Giordan and modified by Freitas which consists of analysis categories aiming to define the result based on criteria, which are more than sufficient, sufficient and insufficient , valid for each category and also for a final classification. Finally, we believe in the pedagogical potential that Conceptual Profile Theory offers as a tool for constructing meanings for scientific concepts and engaging students through well-planned activities, structuring, analysis of scientific knowledge and learning chemical concepts in the classroom.
