SUMMARY:
This paper has as its initial question: "how is the countercultural hippie movement represented in the textbooks of elementary school 9th grade?” To answer this question, qualitative and bibliographic research was used with document analysis (history textbooks and Brazilian official curriculum) in a way that methodologically the study had cultural history as a theoretical line, according to the sources, methods and the studied subjects. The writing resulting from this work is divided into 5 (five) chapters: the first is a presentation of the theme, the objectives, the theoretical frameworks and the methods used in the research. The second discusses the history of the countercultural hippie movement and how it can contribute to the teaching of history. In the third chapter we analyze the narratives present in the 9th grade textbooks about the hippie countercultural movement. In the fourth chapter, we propose a didactic orientation notebook to suppor history teachers in relation to the hippie countercultural movement. In the fifth chapter some conclusions are exposed in order to answer some questions that lived during the research. The result of this study showed that there is a concealment of this type of movement by Brazilian official curriculum (BNCC), as it is up to the textbook authors to choose whether or not to use the hippie countercultural movement and other protest movements. As it is not mandatory, these movements may not appear in the textbooks or when they are there they are presented quickly, as a complement to another subject and without research indications to deepen them. Thus, it will be proposed the elaboration of a didactic guidebook to support history teachers on the countercultural hippie movement.
