THE TEACHING OF HISTORY AND WORK AS AN EDUCATIONAL PRINCIPLE IN YOUTH AND ADULT EDUCATION
History teaching; Work as an educational principle; Youth and Adult Education.
The research from which this dissertation derives investigated the possibilities of using the category “Work” as an educational principle for teaching the History of Youth and Adult Education (EJA). The main epistemological references used in this investigation were Antunes (2015), Arroyo (2021), Carretero (2010), Frigotto (2006), Meirieu (1998) and Saviani (2021). In addition to these, we refer to official curriculum documents in Brazil and Pernambuco, and in our own actions in the classroom. Based on these references, we argue that the “Work” category, as an educational principle (guiding the teaching/learning principles and actions), is not included in the official curriculum documents or in the didactic practices of this educational modality. Due to this, which seems to be an absence, we proposed a didactic sequence of History for EJA (indicating the use of the podcast tool) in which we aimed to problematize the Work category both in its ontological and historical sense.
