This research discusses citizenship and multi/interculturality in teaching History in High School and stems from concerns about the debate about the social nature of teaching practice and the traditional task of teaching History with a view to training for citizenship. Its guiding problem is: how can a multi/intercultural History Curriculum contribute to citizenship training in contemporary times? The work centers its discussion on the High School History Curriculum, takin into account the complex brazilian social context. Defending a multicultural orientation, its general objective is to understand the contribuitions of a multi/intercultural History Curriculum to a contemporary citizenship education of High School students. The especific objectives consist of analyzing the conception of citizenship present in the national prescriptions for the teaching of History over time; discuss a multi/intercultural History Curriculum in the context of citizenship education; and to develop a didactic proposal that can help students and History teachers to reflect on citizenship as a dependent category for learning historical knowledge. As a methodology, a qualitative bibliographical research was adopeted. The research points out that, in the face of na unequal society like the brazilian one, a multi/intercultural History Curriculum that includes notions of citizenship in a plural perpsctive is capable of contributing to pedagogical practices that promote participation and common schooling, leading to a social formation inclusive, democratic and citizen-oriented to the detriment of an education with a homogenizing tendency. As a product of this work, a teaching proposal is presented structured in didactic sequences where the citizenship category is in the contextual centrality of the historical events taught, directing students towards a specific purpose: an active formation oriented towards the construction of a contemporary citizen consciense.
