The study in question intends to analyze the gender violence, one of the main problems involving the patriarchal society, has been perpetuated and naturalized in the transition of the years and how the statistical information evidences this social problem. This post, this dissertation will have as research object the analysis of statistical information regarding gender violence and femicide. In view of what is exposed, the question of the present work is configured from the following problem: How can Bourdieu's theory of Male Domination clarify the situation of femicide occurrences in Brazil represented in statistical information? Given this scenario, the aim of this dissertation is to focus on promoting a social and critical reflection on the information that shows the picture of femicide occurrences in Brazil, according to Bourdieu's analysis of male domination. Specifically, it intends to: Analyze the social construction based on the patriarchal structure, identify what keeps this type of domination in action, establish a connection between male domination and violence against women based on national statistical information and find the responsible factors for the perpetuation of these crimes. From the methodological point of view, this will be a bibliographical research. Following the foundations of the theoretical-methodological proposal as proposed by Bezerra (2019), the analysis and interpretation of the data will seek to develop a reflection on the statistical information on femicide and violence against women. This reflection will be based on Bourdieu's observations that correspond to male domination demonstrated by and by historical aspects focused on patriarchy. In this sense, one of the foundations used in this research according to Minayo (2007) is to understand how the set of human expressions constant in social representations occurs, having a deepening in the field of Social Sciences, an approach also worked in the field of Information Science , seeking to investigate social issues such as violence against women and femicide. It is observed that the male domination that Bourdieu discusses evidences, in a materialized way, in the face of statistical information, an increasingly sexist and misogynistic reality.
