PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES
Project management. Strategic planning. University Libraries. Maturity models. PMMM model.
The study aims to analyze the association of organizational practices in the libraries of a public university in the Northeast of Brazil with project management. To support the study, a literature review was carried out on strategic planning and project management, focusing on publications in information units, especially in libraries. The project was developed through descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. Methodologically, the case study of a public university was adopted and data collection was carried out through the application of a questionnaire to librarians and library coordinators, structured (level 2) of the Project Management Maturity Model (PMMM) by Kerzner (2006).The analysis of the questionnaires was carried out based on level 2 of the PMMM model, in order to identify the maturity level. The results indicate that the libraries of this integrated system do not have maturity in the execution of managerial practices that approach project management, establishing lower averages in all five phases: Embryonic 3.12; Acceptance by Executive Management 1.72; Area Managers 1 .32; Growth 3.65 and Maturity 3.25. Concluding that libraries still need to improve in project management, finally being able to integrate all activities, creating a flow and assertiveness for the entire management process.
