RESUMO:

This paper presents a study of parasitic isopods of the Bobyridae family infesting shrimp of the genus Alpheus in estuarine regions and rocky beaches of Pernambuco. Manual collections were carried out between 2017 and 2023 in the mangrove plains of the Massangana River, Suape - PE, obtaining a total number of 1,715 shrimp (1,362 Alpheus estuariensis, 353 Salmoneus carvachoi), of which 13 A. estuariensis, five S. carvachoi had gill parasites. Three A. formosus and one A. carlae, both shrimps collected at Praia do Paraíso, Suape - PE, were also infested with gill parasites. The parasites were separated and labeled, and measurements of the parasites (total length) and hosts (carapace length) were taken. Photographs were taken using a LEICA stereomicroscope and the final figures were assembled using Photoshop. The drawings of the parasites were produced with the aid of a lucid camera installed in a stereomicroscope (Leica DME), then vectorized with CorelDRAW. In order to arrive at the lowest taxonomic level of the bopyrids, the most up-to-date dichotomous keys available in the literature were consulted, as well as the original descriptions of the taxa identified. Statistical analyses were appropriate according to the literature (prevalence, linear regression, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis). The results revealed a new record of Parabobyrella richardsonae for Brazil, infesting A. estuariensis, S. carvachoi in an estuarine environment and A. formosus on a rocky beach, where possible changes in the biological aspects of the relationship between A. estuariensis and the parasite P. richardsonae were reported. Finally, the description of a new species of the genus Ovobopyrus Markham, 1985, parasitizing A. carlae Anker, 2012, the second species of the genus in the world and the first record of the genus in Brazil. The adult female of Ovobopyrus sp. nov. is diagnosed by the head produced in small anterolateral projections; antenna 1 with three articles; subquadrate maxilliped with a non-articulated palpus with nine long simple setae; oostegite 1 with a sinuous internal crest with five small lobes; carpus of the pereopods with tufts of bristles distally; bilobed terminal pleomere. Dichotomous keys to the genera of the Bopyrinae for Brazil, identification keys to the species of Ovobopyrus and the species of Parabopyrella recorded in Brazil, have been made available.
