SUMMARY:

In Science Teaching, methodological strategies for the implementation of Law 10.639/03 have been gradually developed and improved over the years, with research aimed at Anti-Racist Education being increasingly disseminated. However, what is observed in the daily life of educational practices are curricula and teaching praxis that do not contemplate such strategies. It is considered, therefore, that the training of Science teachers should have space to discuss anti-racist education, since this training will allow the teacher to develop practices that go against the discourses of prejudice and intolerance that are still socially widespread. It is believed that, due to the fact that the Natural Sciences constitute an important reference for the interpretation of phenomena and social problems, science teachers must be able to insert, in their teaching practice, methodological practices that allow such interpretations. In this perspective, it is considered that methodological strategies that incite students' argumentation can be effective in promoting and maintaining discussions of ethnic-racial relations in science classrooms and, for this reason, should be made possible through teacher training. This work proposes, therefore, to investigate what contributions the use of argumentation in the classroom can provide for the training of science teachers in relation to the promotion of an anti-racist education. The research will be carried out through the implementation of a teacher training course for students of the Degree in Chemistry and Degree in Physics at the Federal University of Pernambuco. It is believed, therefore, that teacher training in argumentation in education for the use of this type of discourse as a pedagogical strategy for teaching science can significantly contribute to the construction of discussions of ethnic-racial relations in the classroom, enabling, thus, the promotion of an education that points to anti-racism.
