Environmental Education. Local Context. Project Pedagogy.
This research aims to understand the dynamics of the school in relation to the
environmental problem experienced by the local community, promoting interventions
in order to contribute to the development of critical thinking in the community in the
city of Vertente do Lério. It is a qualitative research of the research-participant type.
For data collection, documental analysis was used through the Political-Pedagogical
Project (PPP), semi-structured interviews and a didactic intervention with the
realization of a pedagogical workshop, enabling the construction of an educational
product. For data analysis, the methodology according to Bardin was used. The
constructed results show that the educational practices developed by the school are
not consistent with Environmental Education (EE) within a critical/ecipatory
perspective, in addition to being worked in a discontinuous and casual way. Usually
associated with commemorative dates or when it is of interest to some teachers in
related fields of knowledge, being mainly anchored in a traditional perspective,
revealed through the conceptions of the teachers and manager who, according to the
interviews, demonstrated a predominantly naturalistic/anthropocentric view of the
Environment . The environmental conflicts of the local context are little perceived by
teachers and, consequently, little explored in their pedagogical practices. The
curriculum was appointed as the main challenge in approaching the theme. The
Pedagogical Political Project (PPP) does not present the pedagogical actions
developed by the school, demonstrating a lack of articulation with the pedagogical
practices taught by the teachers. Given the results, it can be concluded that the
approach to EE at school is happening in disagreement with official documents, such
as the Federal Constitution, National Environmental Education Policy, Law No.
9,795/99 and the PCNs. Finally, the experience of the workshop allowed an
important reflection about the local experience, promoting creativity through the
possibilities for carrying out environmental practice in daily school life, through the
relationship between the environmental theme and the school curriculum, thus
resulting in the development of the Pedagogical booklet with active participation of
teachers.
