This work aimed to investigate which dimensions and competences mathematics teachers have in terms of playfulness, more specifically games, and how teaching knowledge is articulated with the use of playfulness. As a theoretical support, we used studies on the Dimensions and Ludic Skills (Lima, 2015), along with Teaching Knowledge (Tardif, 2014). The theme of this work is extremely important, since it is necessary to discuss how teacher training was or is being developed and the studies carried out on the theme. Because it is a qualitative research, in the first collection stage we used a questionnaire that was applied to eight teachers who teach mathematics at the Municipal School Maurina Rodrigues dos Santos, in the municipality of Passira-PE, and then we carried out the second stage with the focus group, in which four participants shared their experiences in a semi-structured interview reporting the post application of a game in their mathematics classes. The results showed that the Playful Dimensions and Skills are well understood by the participants and that, despite the adversities and demands of the teaching profession, the participants understand the importance of using playfulness, the possibilities of encouraging students to participate more and more in classes and to develop logical reasoning. With regard to the ludic dimensions, the ones that were most evident in the perceptions of the participants were the “Educational”, “Fun and Pleasure” and “Cultural” dimensions. As for recreational skills, we highlight those of “Planning”, “Playful Training and “Application”. Regarding the teaching knowledge, the most evident were the “Curricular” and “Experiential” knowledge, as they take into account the school curricula, the objectives, contents and methods that must be applied, in addition to their experiences in the classroom. With regard to the interview, we observed that the relationship between theory and practice coincided due to the participants highlighting the need to develop a ludic activity that is related to the apprehension of the content, the instigation of logical reasoning and the ability to interact.
